Hawley 2nd XI vs Shinfield Match Report

The opening day of the 2016 Season started with Hawley vs Shinfield on a glorious sunny Saturday. Arthur Richer and newly promoted opener Nave Karm (6) got the innings off to a good start. Richard Miles and Dan Wilson both suffered unlucky/controversial dismissals, before Reece Wilson (15) and Nick Rumsby, batting at number 6 on his Hawley debut hit an impressive 21 including 4 boundaries. Dan Litwin and Pete Heights (20) continued the run scoring efforts, as Arthur Richer top scored with 46. Matt Smith and Leigh Wilson contributed valuable lower order runs with Nathan Jones the man left on 0 not out at the end as Hawley were bowled out for 143. Shinfield had one opener who scored a quick half century before 2 strikes from Dan Litwin gave us hope. Nave Karm, when attempting to throw down the stumps, smashed Shinfield's umpire in the back of the head, unsurprisingly all appeals after this were given not out. Richard Miles and Reece Wilson took 1 wicket apiece, both taking good catches off each others bowling, Reece's diving effort in particular a real highlight of an innings where Hawley were unlucky as chances were elusive. Shinfield won by 6 wickets.
