VICTORIA SHENOW

Victoria works from her studio in Leura, Blue Mountains, West of Sydney. She was born and raised in the United Kingdom, lived in France from where she emigrated to Australia.She is passionate about life, painting, landscape and travelling. Victoria gained Associate Diploma in Fine Arts,including 1st prize for photography in 1990, a two thirds completed Studio Ceramics course Certificate in 1994 and graduated with a Diploma in Fine Arts,credit pass, through the Northern Sydney INSTITUTE of TAFE in 1995. 

  
         
     
  ARTISTS STATEMENT "A good traveller has no fixed plans and is not intent on arriving " Lao Tzu (570-490BC).  
  Inspiration for my work comes from a desire for discovery of the physical world in which I live.  In turn, this connects me to my inner world.  I seek out remote areas and love to explore the red soil of the Australian outback, the deserted beaches of Cornwall, the oak forests of my native England, the African Savannah and craggy outcrops of the Scottish Highlands.

My home in the Blue Mountains affords me the luxury of a short walk to a natural rock armchair from which I can mentally float over the swathes of grey-green eucalypts and listen to the call of the bell bird.

Landscapes, the female form, abstracts and still life compositions are all a visual language which help me connect to my viewpoint of my world and ideally with the world of others.

My sacred place is my spirit within and the tangible energy that is spirit translates as a myriad of images of mind and place.
